Steven Spielberg began making films with an 8mm movie camera. He now produces some of Hollywood’s most expensive and successful motion pictures. How many “Christian” Steven Spielbergs are out there? They have to begin somewhere with that first film.

CHRISTIAN FILMWORKS magazine was created to encourage the beginner to take that first step, the student filmmaker to pursue their dream of making Christian films and for the professional to continue to strive to make an impact for the Christian film Industry.

We will do this by showcasing Christian filmmakers on all skill levels: amateur, student and pro. We are here to give a behind the scenes look with inspiring articles showing how the filmmaker produced his/her film from conception to finished film. No film is too small to have its place in CHRISTIAN FILMWORKS magazine. We don’t want any filmmaker to be intimidated by the pros.

Our goal at CHRISTIAN FILMWORKS, is to be looked at by the Christian filmmaker as the foremost Christian film publication. We are the FIRST and ONLY Christian film publication that takes you behind the scenes of Christian filmmaking.

We can only do this with your help. We need for you to send us your film articles and photos. Tell us where you got your ideas from, where you film the story, what problems arose during production and how you solved them.

For more information on submissions click on the submission info link.

CHRISTIAN FILMWORKS magazine was created by Christian filmmaker John Martin. John lives in Medina, Ohio and began making films in 1972 at the age of 16. He shot in 8mm and Super 8 format. For 8 years he made horror films. Then, in 1980, John became a Christian and by 1981 he had already produced his first Christian film under the name Exodus Film Productions.

Since then, John has made several Christian films that have been shown at various churches, Bible studies and Christian groups. John has been featured on the radio and in newspapers several times discussing his film ministry over the years.

n 2001, now working under the name of New Parable Films, the Lord gave John a vision to produce what he called “video-tracts”. These are a new alternative to traditional Christian paper tracts. They are short video presentations of the Gospel message, followed by an on-screen invitation by John.

Also in 2001, John set up his website which features complete information on all of his videos and other information regarding his film ministry.

“I will continue to produce Christian “movies with a message” until the Lord directs me differently,” says John.

ou can visit New Parable Films online at:
